Fan Advisory Board
Ahead of the 2023/24 season the club launched its Fan Advisory Board (FAB) in line with Premier League regulations and as part of the club’s overall Fan Engagement Plan.
The introduction of the Fan Advisory Board followed consultation with the Wolves 1877 Trust.
Daniel Warren, Wolves 1877 Trust Chair, said: "We have had ongoing discussions with Wolves about setting up a Fan Advisory Board from a very early stage, and they have been very open in discussing their plans with the Trust. We are very encouraged to see this announcement and look forward to playing an active role in the Fan Advisory Board and its development over the coming seasons. We believe this is a continuation of a process where fans have a direct stake in the decision-making process at the club."
What is a Fan Advisory Board?
A Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is a structured forum where representatives from fan groups and individual supporters meet with club representatives to discuss matters of interest and provide feedback. It's a mechanism for the club to engage with its fanbase and incorporate fans’ perspectives into decision-making, especially on strategic issues.
What is the purpose of the Fan Advisory Board?
The FAB aims to strengthen the relationship between the club and its supporters, ensuring a two-way dialogue and open communication. It provides a platform for fans to voice their opinions and concerns, and for the club to share information and seek feedback.
What is the composition of the FAB?
FABs typically consist of representatives from various fan groups, such as supporter trusts, fan forums, and other dedicated groups. Some clubs also include independent supporter representatives and individuals nominated by the club.
At Wolves, the Fan Advisory Board is made up of a representative from each of the club’s Fan Focus Groups along with a representative from the Wolves 1877 Supporters’ Trust, a representative from the Wolves Disabled Supporters’ Association, and an independent supporter representative who was selected by the club and the Football Supporters Association following an application process in the summer of 2023.
Russell Jones is the club’s nominated board-level official responsible for fan engagement and consultation.
In addition, the Fan Advisory Board meetings will also include members of the senior management team based on items in each meeting’s agenda. A representative from the club’s ownership will also attend at least one fan advisory panel meeting per season. Special guests or advisors may also attend if deemed appropriate.
How often will the FAB meet?
The Fan Advisory Board is required to meet a minimum of twice per season. Meetings will be arranged by the club; however, the Fan Advisory Board members elect a chairperson to work with the nominated board-level official to organise meetings and set meeting agendas.
What topics will be discussed at a FAB meeting?
The FAB will discuss the following topics during a season.
The club’s strategic vision and objectives
Short, medium, and long-term business plans
Club performance updates, priorities, and plans
Operational matchday issues of concern to supporters
Any proposals relating to significant changes to club heritage items
Stadium issues and plans
The Club’s community strategy
EDI commitments
Plans for broader supporter engagement
It is important to note that ‘on pitch’ and commercially sensitive matters would not normally form part of the agenda.
