Protests at the Etihad

Wolves’ fans travelling to the Etihad on Friday evening might be surprised to see empty seats in the home end when the match kicks off; it’s all part of an ongoing protest focusing on Manchester City’s policy towards season ticket holders.

At kick-off vs Wolves on Friday night, Manchester City supporter groups are asking home fans to stay on the concourse for the first 6 minutes of the game. 6 minutes to represent the 6 years the club has been actively reducing season ticket numbers whilst expanding the stadium capacity. When fans don't renew, the club doesn't put them back in the pot; they’re gone in favour of corporate and other packages.

Alongside this, City has replaced STs with a product called ‘flexi-gold’ which guarantees a seat with slashed terms & conditions, and an upfront charge of £150. After recent fan protests vs Leicester, City froze ST prices for the first time in a decade, but their match-day prices continue to exclude working-class Mancunians from their club, leading to the empty seats seen at Villa last week. £71 was the cheapest adult ticket for that game, and vs Wolves it is £61 for adults and £33 for a child.

Wolves 1877 Trust stands with supporters of Manchester City in opposing the erosion of season tickets and ever-increasing ticket prices throughout the Premier League.
