Rob Edwards’ dismissal
The Trust thanks Rob Edwards and reiterates calls for strong governance around football decision-making.
Keith Bickley, Chairman of the Wolves 1877 Trust, the independent football supporters trust for Wolves fans, on today’s news that Rob Edwards has been sacked as the club’s coach:
“The Trust wants to thank Rob on behalf of supporters. He joined the club at one of the lowest moments in its history. It was a situation he didn’t make but he put his heart and soul into trying to fix it. We’re grateful for his efforts and we wish him every success in the future – apart from games against Wolves.”
“It’s not the job of the Trust to second-guess footballing decisions made behind closed doors, and we also wish whoever comes into the job the very best.
“The real tests today are whether this decision has been informed by good, strong governance, whether it was taken by people with football and Wolves expertise and whether it is part of a clear, longer-term plan for the club.
“If that is the case, we can have confidence in whoever the new appointment is.
“The Trust looks forward to the club sharing more on its wider plan and ambitions as was agreed, by the end of the summer.”
