Saturday 8 pm in London
For the second time this season, Wolves will have a Saturday 8 pm kick-off, with the upcoming Arsenal match also selected for the 8 pm slot. Concerningly, for the upcoming fixture against Chelsea, the club has decided to take a reduced ticket allocation.
Members of the Trust, part of the club’s Ticketing Fan Focus Group, had expected Wolves to sell out their full allocation of 3,000 tickets, as happened for the Spurs game in September. However, after reviewing daily sales comparisons, the club reduced the allocation to 2,121. This limited the window for ticket purchases, leaving many supporters unable to buy tickets.
The Trust raised the concerns of fans who have been affected by the decision to the club via the Ticketing Focus Group. The club responded ‘’ To avoid penalty we would need to sell 2,650. From the first loyalty window onwards, sales have been 500-600 lower than the same stages for Spurs and Fulham. Which would indicate that reaching 2,650 would be unlikely.’’
We still believe we would have sold our full allocation for Saturday and urge the club to take the full allocation for the Arsenal match.
Wolves, so far, have now been selected for three Saturday 8 pm matches this season. While there is no restriction on the number of times a club can appear in Saturday 5:30 pm or 8 pm slots, clubs are capped at five appearances per season across all broadcast packages to ensure fair distribution.
TV Packages and Broadcasters
The Saturday 8 pm slot is considered an alternative to the standard Premier League slots:
Package A: Sat 12:30 pm (TNT Sports)
Package B: Sat 5:30 pm (Sky Sports)
Package C: Sun 2:00 pm (Sky Sports)
Package D: Sun 4:30 pm (Sky Sports)
Package E: Fri or Mon evenings (Sky Sports)
Matches in the 8 pm slot fall outside these primary times and are usually treated as rescheduled or flexible fixtures, for example when clubs have midweek European games.
The current TV deal runs from 2025/26 to 2028/29. The Trust will continue raising concerns about fixture scheduling ahead of the next TV deal.
