Digital Ticketing

Premier League ‘‘Digital ticketing will become a mandatory requirement for all existing Premier League clubs by no later than Season 2026/27. Newly promoted clubs will have a period of two years to implement its use upon joining the League.

A digital ticket is one that is delivered electronically, most commonly to a mobile phone. It allows clubs to assign each Home or Away match ticket to an assigned supporter who is registered with the club. It uses enhanced security features such as hidden or rotating barcodes that help to prevent misuse or the illegal touting of tickets.

Digital ticketing will allow clubs to make the sale and delivery of tickets more efficient. It will also help to resolve challenges, such as lost or damaged tickets and create scope for more dynamic ticket transfer schemes.’’

The Trust through our representation on the Ticketing Fan Focus Group asked the club a number of questions about their plans roll out digital ticketing for the start of season 2026/27:

1. Will Molineux be fully digital by the 2025/26 season? Yes. The Premier League requires at least 70% of match tickets to be distributed digitally.

2. Will there be an alternative for those unable or uncomfortable using smartphones? Yes. Reasonable adjustments will be made for those unable to use digital methods.

3. Will there be an extra cost for physical cards? Not yet confirmed—this will be discussed in final consultations.

4. Will digital tickets support both NFC and QR codes? Yes. Passes will include both.

5. How will entry issues be handled? PDA operators will assist at turnstiles and liaise with the ticket office. Further guidance will be provided before rollout.

6. Will staff be trained to assist effectively? Yes. The rollout will focus resources on specific turnstile blocks to address issues.

7. Who holds data from digital ticketing? Details are available in the club’s privacy policy.

8. Will ticket transfer/exchange be possible? Yes. A transfer/exchange function will be introduced.

9. What about poor mobile signal at Molineux? Tickets can be accessed before travelling. Trials with West Ham and Everton fans showed no issues.

10. How will group/family tickets be managed? Ticket forwarding will address this.

11. Is facial recognition being considered? No. Wolves have not discussed this technology.

12. Will minimum season ticket usage be introduced? Not currently, but any change would involve consultation.

13. Will cup tickets work like current smartcards? Yes. If a fan buys their regular seat, it will automatically update.

14. What if I change my mobile number or email? The pass can be removed from the old device and added to the new one.

15. Will corporate guests need digital tickets? Yet to be determined.

16. Will members receive digital tickets for individual matches? Yes. Match-to-match tickets can be added to mobile wallets.

The club are running trials at the current time and we will continue to update members as the roll out progresses.
